MEETING DETAILS:

We are a support group for all who have been affected by a stroke, whether a stroke survivor or a caregiver to one who has had a stroke.

LEADER(S):  Scott Werdebaugh* (Leader) *Temporary Assignment:  We need to find another to serve in a more permanent capacity.

LOCATION:  Room 202, Salem First Church of the Nazarene, 1550 Market Street NE (Between 17th and 14th Streets NE on the South Side of Market Street NE), Salem, OR  97301. As ALL Church doors are locked, please plan to arrive at least 15-30 minutes early so someone can let you into the building.

MEETING SCHEDULE:  We meet the second Tuesday of each month from 1:00 - 3:00 pm. Meetings will begin PROMPTLY at 1:00 pm! Since the meeting room is open and available from 12 Noon to 3:30 pm, all attendees are encouraged to network at 12 Noon before or after the meeting until 3:00 pm.

We began under the sponsorship of Salem Hospital as a support group for those who have been impacted by a stroke. Therefore, this group's focus is to support the stroke survivor and their caregiver(s) throughout their stroke recovery through instruction, sharing of successes and areas of struggle, networking, sharing, and encouraging support. Our meetings are confidential and nothing specific that happens in the group is shared outside the group. We usually try to feature a special guest speaker for each meeting to address areas of concern or educate group members about their stroke and issues and concerns in their recovery process.

Who We Are:  We are members of the local community. We have experienced a cerebrovascular accident or care for someone who has. We each have something positive to offer and we support each other in our respective journeys in recovery and growth toward independent living. We are caring, sharing, alive, and seeking how we can make a difference to ourselves, and how as a group we can make a difference in our community as a whole.

Our Shared Goal:  Together we commit to continue motivating the stroke survivor and their caregiver(s) to discover and achieve their own goals in recovery in a supportive, positive, respectful, and healthy manner, wherever their respective journeys may lead.
